Peak Performers and Friends Weekender (April 3, 2008)

Saturday -- Totem Run - 7.25 miles; meet at the Postmark Pit [50 yds west of the Postmark Dr - Northern Lights Blvd intersection] at 7:55AM, for a 8:00AM start. Or start earlier if you want more miles. Coffee afterwards at the Middleway.

Saturday -- Happy Fun Group - 9AM. For the month of April we will meet near the corner of Eagle and 22nd to run on the Chester Creek Trail. Eagle can be accessed off of Fireweed, one block west of New Seward Hwy, or off the New Seward Hwy at 22nd (which is just south of the Hillside Motel/Camper Park on the west side of the highway) We welcome walkers and runners of all abilities. Sunday -- Arctic Valley Climb - meet at the Moose Run parking lot, 8AM for shuttling cars, 815AM for walkers, 830AM for runners. If you plan on joining in on this climb, PLEASE contact Elaine Nelson, 276-3411 or mailto:denelson@gci.net Sat PM to coordinate car shuttling. NOTE: Shuttlers will return approx. 30 mins after they head up the hill.

COACH CHESTER'S NEXT TUESDAY WORKOUT The workout will be at the Moseley Sports Center again and, like last week, will be hill repeats. We will do the number of repeats we did last Tuesday plus one more. Hopefully the track at West High will be clear by the following Tuesday, April 15, so that, as planned, we can switch to track workouts for the rest of the season. Chet

MESSAGE FROM JIM LIEB PEAK PERFORMERS TRACK CLUB BEGINNING-OF-SEASON POTLUCK - APRIL 08 Our Beginning-of-Season Potluck will be hosted by Ken Flynn after next Tuesday's [April 8] APU workout - 7PMish. Ken lives reasonably close to APU. This get-together is primarily for new and prospective members to meet returning club members and the coaches. In addition to the directions to Ken's home below, these will be also available at next Tuesday's APU workout. DIRECTIONS: if you are coming from APU, go north on Lake Otis, across Northern Lights to the next stoplight at 20th. Turn right and follow 20th east about 7 blocks [towards Tikishla Park]. At the stop sign at Sunrise Drive, turn left. Flynn’s house is about a block to the north at 1663 Sunrise. There should be a white Suburban in the driveway. For the potluck, folks can either bring any food item that they wish to bring, or if it doesn't make a difference and it is easy for you, you can bring one of the 3 food types [salad/appetizer, main dish or dessert] according to this alphabetic split: your last name starts with A to H, a salad or appetizer, I to P, a main dish, or Q to Z, a dessert. MESSAGE FROM GREG BROWN CHUGACH STATE PARK MASTER PLAN The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is working with the Municipality of Anchorage on a revision of the Chugach State Park Master Plan and Trail Plan that will address issues resulting from Anchorage’s growth and increased visitor use.
